About NJD Sports Injury Clinic
Family run clinic
![]() |
NJD Sports Injury Clinic is a privately run family clinic (father & daughter) located in Clitheroe, the heart of the Ribble Valley, Lancashire. We are warm and friendly towards our patients and work flexible hours to accommodate your busy life-styles, family, and sporting needs. Our clients come from Lancashire, Cumbria and Manchester etc. We work with many athletes, such as cyclists, triathletes and runners. We understand the reasons why it is necessary to differentiate between the specific needs of each athlete and each individual sporting discipline - to exact marginal gains in performance. Pre-Bikefit Screening is a specialist area of ours. Undoubtedly, the first to coin the phrase Pre-Bikefit Screening, we are now recognised as one the UK's leaders in this field. Bikefit Screening is often neglected, undervalued or misunderstood by cyclists, and many bike fitters alike. For more information visit our Published Articles page. |
Mission statement
To provide a safe, professional evidence-based service to both athletes and non-athletes alike. Our aim is to restore optimum levels of function, occupational and sports specific, regardless of age and ability, as quickly as is practicable possible, without reoccurrence of injury.
Address the cause, not just the symptoms
|
|
The clinic is extremely proud of its evidence-based approach towards the prevention, management and rehabilitation of sports injuries and general musculoskeletal conditions - both acute and chronic. We treat athletes of all abilities, from a wide range of sports activities. Successful treatment often relies on an accurate diagnosis - which results from a comprehensive examination. Therefore, we allocate time to conduct a thorough and systematic Examination and Assessment of each patient. Furthermore, this approach is also preventative - invaluable for revealing musculoskeletal deficits that may lead to injury. Our aim is to address the cause, not just treat symptoms. This approach not only facilitates a safe recovery, but also helps to educate the patient, thereby helps to protect against reoccurrence. |
We work with educational establishments

We collaborate with educational establishments to achieve common goals. These establishments include Universities, Schools, Academies and private organisations. In addition to fulfilling our own ongoing educational needs, we are involved with the delivery of cpd courses and workshops. Occasionally, we assist in the development and periodic review of course modules for academic establishments. |
Student work placements
|
|
We are proud to offer limited student work placement opportunities especially during the current economic decline. Although only a small family clinic, we endeavour to provide workplace opportunities. We have mentored Sports Therapy undergraduates from UCLAN and Huddersfield University and most recently a Sports Science undergraduate from Northumbria University.
We also take students from local schools and academies. Photo of Rebecca Brereton (left) of Accrington Academy, studying BTEC National Diploma in Sport Level 3. Our Clinic does NOT provide Public Liability Cover for students while on work placement, and therefore do not accept responsibility for Student cover whilst on our premises. The responsibility remains with the Student and their respective Educational establishment to provide the necessary cover. Details of our Student Induction programme & Risk Assessments below: |
